A few weeks ago we’ve been given the task of organizing a charitable event in the conjunction with Five Foot Six branding and design agency (http://www.fivefootsix.co.uk/#). We were to create ping pong bats, which will be auctioned at this event. All the profits will be going to the BBC Children charity. Here you can see some winning bats from previous exhibitions: http://www.fivefootsix.co.uk/works/the-art-of-ping-pong/#, to get the idea of what was the outcome was supposed to be.
We first got split into groups in order to come up with ideas for the curation (everything from the name, branding theme, organising of the cafe space for the exhibition, way the auction will be run, music, way the bats will be displayed, etc.). Two people from each group then went to the Five Foot Six agency to discuss the ideas and choose the best ones. And in the meantime, all of us starting working on the actual bats.
I’ve bought an actual bat, but it was way too small, so I decided to cut it out myself. The tutors said that perfectly well do that, as long as it’s the right size.
In this post you can see the creation of my bat from beginning to the end…
And you can see the finished piece here:
This was a lot of work, but great fun me. I hope somebody at the auction will like it as much as I do, and buys it. What a cute rabbit to cheer you up on moody days!
