“Local Universe—visual research for street photography”

When I started working on the last Local Universe brief, I got some books out on street photography, as it directly related to what I was doing:

These have been a great help and inspiration when getting out there taking the photographs of “my bollards”. First of all, I’ve found different techniques and tips on how to photograph people (such as doing it from the profile in case you’re like me and find the direct shooting in the face too offensive). There was also an input about different weather conditions, which came in handy when when doing the last shoot in the rain. This is the shoot that got used in the final pieces.

Another chapter focused on sequences (by Nils Jorgensen)—a technique which intrigued me, and ended up as the base of my final project.

This is the kind of weather that I experienced when doing the last shoot. No time—no choice to wait.

These books were great, and I will hold on to them for a bit longer.
