When it comes to choosing typography, I am not an expert yet, and it takes experimentation to make it work.
With Creative Bugs illustration festival I already have a vision in my mind—I am thinking about a combination of handwritten typeface and a simple, elegant, geometric sans-serif. Here are the options that I picked during my typo brainstorm:
Eventually I’ve decided to choose the very first one for the main text (Creative Bugs), as I found it very creative, playful, and expressive, while also looking elegant and professional at the same time. I just had to remove the ‘tale’ of the last letter:
I will now experiment with adding a geometric sans-serif for the ‘Illustration festival’ part of the text:
I went through a number of different layouts and typefaces, and at the end I chose Avenir Next and Mayeka Light as the ‘finalists’.
At this point I am still deciding between the two, but the answer will become apparent tomorrow when I get back it after a break. The payout will most likely stay sideways, to take away from the horizontal lines, and create more space for the bugs illustrations which are to follow next.
